Our story

We are a collective of family and friends who have come together over a shared love of Kombucha. Not just for its unique delicious fresh taste and healthy benefits, but also for how it can play a part in a more balanced lifestyle.  

Sadly, though, we discovered not all Kombuchas are born equal. Some are too sugary, weak in taste, or made from poor ingredients. Others take short cuts in production, or offer undefined health benefits. Most are expensive. Then we tried the next step; making it ourselves using all the usual kits. But those we found to be messy, time consuming, and sadly inconsistent.

Around this time, a closed system brewing device developed for beer came into our lives. Knowing that brewing beer is not too dissimilar to brewing kombucha, an idea was born. We sat down with a team of experts in brewing, engineering, kombucha, health and flavor to see if this technology could be adapted for kombucha. After years of trials, and many many hours of brewing experiments,  bruusta was born. 

We have tested and refined the base, the recipes, the flavor adds, and every component of the Bruusta itself to make sure it makes delicious healthy Kombucha every time, exactly how you’d want it.

But really, that’s only half the reason we love the bruusta so much. It’s not just a drink that’s good for you, it’s good for the planet, too. There are no cans or bottles, and no unnecessary shipping of water, which makes up the bulk of pre-made kombuchas. 

Our motto is ‘making good things happen together’. From the drink we make, to improving every step in our process, to the way we bring people together.
